Get with the earth

The Earth flag is not an official flag, since ...

When I first started this business 10 years ago I don’t think I realized that getting organized is, in and of itself, going green. It is a sustainable act that helps your personal environment align with the environment at large. Reduce, reuse and recycle is just another day at the office for me. So, I’ve been “green” long before there was the movement as it exists today! I can always do more in my own life and to help my clients but I love that I’m intrinsically part of the solution.

As the issues devastating our earth have reached critical mass and come to the forefront of the political and social landscape I’ve become even more aware and put more conscious “eco” methods to use in my business such helping clients go paperless and using sustainable products. Going paperless is something that helps an office become more effective and efficient but also helps save trees. There is some debate as to whether or not the offset is entirely energy efficient in the long run, but done correctly, going paperless is much more kind to the environment than running an office based on paper. Additionally, it is safer in terms of privacy. If you want to know more about these issues you can contact me to see how they apply to your particular office.

In teaming up with a sustainability coach, Monica Schrock (aka Lowimpactbetty), we realized that in order to change one’s habits in the long run for sustainability one needs to be organized,  in their immediate “environment.” I find it so interesting that what makes one’s life more sustainable – that is – easier to maintain – in one’s own personal environment also makes the environment at large more sustainable. For example, reducing toxic products in your environment is not only better for you, but for everyone. I could go on forever with examples.

I choose to support the earth with my dollars as often as I can. That is, as often as possible I choose to purchase products made in a sustainable fashion and frequent businesses who employ sustainable business practices.

My favorites can be found all around this site on the blog posts. If you follow me on Twitter or if you like my Facebook page you’ll see the support I give to those who also support the environment.

Supporting other women business owners and women’s organizations is as much a part of my mission as making people’s lives easier.
